The Entrepreneurial Course for High School Students

Students gather at a central location, usually, the Cinestudio at Trinity College, and interact with a live instructor for the weekly “all hands” meetings. Public high schools, parochial schools, vocational technical high schools, the home-schooled and community-based youth groups are invited to participate. Students are transported from and to their home schools for these weekly meetings.

Nine Weekly Two-Hour Sessions

There are nine weekly after-school classroom sessions, held for two hours each week. These meetings bring all program participants from all participating high schools together to learn the essential business character and entrepreneurial distinctions. The sessions are led by a successful entrepreneur and the creator of the $-Road To Riches-$® Program and the curriculum for this EntrepreneursNOW project.
We engage teams of youth participants in interactive discussion and exercises directed at the personal behaviors linked to successful business ownership particularly during the new business start-up cycle. These sessions are opportunities for teams from participating high schools to share their experiences creating a business and undertaking teamwork and personal integrity and leadership activities.

Between-Classroom Activities

Weekly work assignments enforce the weekly lessons and have students alter their behavior by practicing the thinking and operating practices of successful business people.
After-school team meetings are held each week (three times per week) at the students’ home high schools and are mentored by teacher/mentors with the assistance of School Captains. At these in-between weekly joint sessions participants do their class work assignment, engage in team business development activities, prepare sales and marketing strategies and materials, and work to launch their real business by the 8th session.

Business Fair

The culminating event between Sessions 8 and 9 is an evening Business Fair at which the students showcase and sell their products, and to which friends, family and community members, including business leaders, press, state officials and educators are invited.
People are astounded at the excitement generated and confidence and maturity exhibited by the student business owners.

Post-Fair Activities

A 9th All Hands session serves as a debriefing and assessment time for staff and youth participants.
