The secrets of the wealthy as easy as 1 - 2 - 3
for Hartford, Connecticut area students
HARTFORD, Connecticut –
Astute business, education, and government leaders have a vested interest
in our students - the future of our country. But our students aren’t
learning the skills that make the difference and prepare them for the realities
of the world of work.
Today, EntrepreneursNOW, Connecticut's
cutting-edge non-profit organization dedicated to training all youth in
character-building and entrepreneurial skills, announces The Winter/2007
Entrepreneurial Course for High School Students – an after-school program that
trains juniors and seniors to become entrepreneurs by starting a business
in nine short weeks. The Winter/2007 program, serving 150 youth from eleven
Hartford area high schools, is being held at CineStudio on the campus of Trinity
College in Hartford, CT.
Students transform their own behavior
and lives through this free-to-the-student experienced-based education
program. They develop character, leadership, problem-solving,
communication, and public speaking skills through the entrepreneurship
experience. They learn that they, and not their schools, parents, or the
government, are responsible for generating their own success. They learn
that they can’t allow personal circumstances to interfere with their
success.
Penny Christy, President of
EntrepreneursNOW states, “Half of the students don’t finish because the program
isn’t for them. Some insist on playing by their own rules and are not
permitted to continue.” Those that do finish transform themselves from
dependent, skeptical, defiant urban teenagers to on-fire, proud, capable and
responsible young entrepreneurs. 95% of their families participate at the
Business Fair – the Course completion event. Ms. Christy continues, “They
can’t stop talking about what they accomplished in nine weeks. When they
start the program, they don’t know how capable they are. By the Business
Fair, they know that they can achieve their dreams and that success is available
to them too.”
We invite you to
attend the 2007 VIP Reception and Youth Business Fair on March 26, 2007 from 5
to 9 pm at the Connecticut Expo Center in Hartford, CT. This is your
opportunity to meet area students who rise to the challenge and proudly display
their business leadership. Experience the dynamics of our enthusiastic
youth who have visions for their lives and are making a difference for
themselves and others.
